Major Shopping Malls**:

**For stores like Home Depot, Target, K-Mart, appliance stores, electronics, Linens & Things, Barnes and Noble, etc. there are large shopping areas in several towns like Parsippany (Route 46), East Hanover, Randolph, Roxbury (Ledgewood Mall on Route 10, Tel: 973-594-1411), and Bridgewater (Route 202).
Towns with local shopping:
Mendham: One shopping area on Route 24/Main Street: Shops include King's Supermarket, Mendham Books, Mendham Hardware, Mendham Apothecary, Mendham Video, and several other small shops and restaurants (pizza, Chinese food, a diner and a steak house.) Mendham also has boutique shopping in the center of town for rugs, antiques, collectibles, children's clothes and gifts.
Chester: Three local shopping areas and many quaint gift and antique shops along Route 24/Main Street. The newest shopping area is an outdoor mall along Route 206 that includes many upscale stores.
Morristown: This is the largest town in the area and has many shops, restaurants and hotels. Morris County Mall has a WalMart and a variety of discount stores. There is also a commuter train to New York City (mid-town direct: 50 minutes to Penn Station) and a major medical center, Morristown Memorial Hospital (Route 24/Madison Avenue.)
Madison: Many supermarkets, all kinds of small shops and restaurants along Route 24/Main Street. Commuter train to New York City (Mid-Town Direct.)
Chatham: Many supermarkets, all kinds of small shops and restaurants along Route 24/Main Street. Commuter train to New York City (Mid-Town Direct.) Movie theater that shows mostly quality foreign films.
Basking Ridge (Bernards Township): Many shops, supermarkets and restaurants along Route 202, at Lyons Mall and at The Hills (off Routes 202/206 in Bedminster, bordering Basking Ridge.)
Bernardsville: Shop-Rite and King's supermarkets, many shops, coffee shops and restaurants. There is a small movie theater and a commuter train to New York City along route 202.
Major Area Routes:
- Route 202, runs north and south, through many towns and traffic lights.
- Route 80, runs east and west (east goes to George Washington Bridge, to New York City; west goes to Pennsylvania and beyond.)
- Route 280, runs east and west (east goes to NJ Turnpike, west end in Parsippany.)
- Route 46, runs east and west (east connects with Route 3 which goes to the Lincoln Tunnel, New York City and continues to the George Washington Bridge; west goes to the Delaware Water Gap and Pennsylvania.) Goes through several towns and traffic lights.
- Route 24, runs east and west (east connecting with Route 78, goes to the Garden State Parkway, the New Jersey Turnpike, the Newark Airport and the Holland Tunnel to New York City. West ends at the Morristown area where it connects with Route 287 north and south.)
- Route 78, runs east and west (east goes to the Garden State Parkway, the New Jersey Turnpike, the Newark Airport and the Holland Tunnel to New York City. West goes to Pennsylvania and beyond.)
- Route 287, runs north and south (north goes to the New York Thruway towards Albany and Upstate New York and to the Tappan Zee Bridge towards Connecticut and the New England states, south goes to South New Jersey and the Philadelphia area.)
- Garden State Parkway (or GS Parkway) runs north and south (north to New York State, south to New Jersey Shore towns, to Atlantic City (casinos) and ends up in Cape May, the southern tip of New Jersey.) No trucks are allowed on the GS Parkway.
- New Jersey Turnpike, runs north and south (north starts at the George Washington Bridge, south goes to Philadelphia and ends in Delaware.)
